1824 (2 April) entire commercial letter from Leicester to Messrs Howard, Jewell, Gibson & Co., Stratford, Essex, enclosing a bill for £47 18s. (Probably the reason for the Double Rate charge) Manuscript 1s 6d postal charge, representing the double-letter rate for the Leicester–Stratford distance of approximately 80–120 miles. Stamford arrival/postmark dated 3 April 1824. Commercial correspondence concerning an account of £50 8s, with £2 10s balance noted. Addressed to the important early British fine-chemical manufacturers Howard, Jewell & Gibson.
