Dated Liverpool, April 16th, 1813, addressed to "Mr W.B. Cottage, North Walsham, Norfolk."

The reverse bears a "LIVERPOOL" datestamp (April 16, 1823) and a red wax seal (now partly broken/lifted).

The letter is from a brother (signed "Tho... Cottage" — likely Thomas Cottage), writing to inform his brother that he is well and getting ready for sea. He mentions he intends to write to "Mr Pitt" before he sails and will enclose his accounts, expressing disappointment about the amount of freight money — having made £390 but only received £580 (or possibly the figures are reversed/partially obscured), with the port now showing strong winds from the westward.

The second leaf continues that he's tired of being in port, that he received and answered a letter from "Mrs Burnfunt" (or similar surname), pleased at her improved handwriting, and that "Mr Burnfunt" has arrived and is "quite fatigued after his journey." Both send their respects to "Mr/Mrs Roberson," and he closes with love to "Mother," the recipient's wife, and all friends, signing as "your affectionate brother."
